Well, it is now just over 2 weeks before we head to Sydney, first leg of our epic adventure. Wednesday 7th January we've booked into a Sydney Airport hotel, after a 3 hour drive from Canberra, where a group of friends are meeting us for a farewell dinner. Thursday morning we depart for London Heathrow via Hong Kong - a long haul flight but we like to get it over in one go. We arrive Heathrow around 5.30am Friday. Driver booked to take us to the Harbour View Hotel in Southampton. We've requested an early check in so just hope they oblige or there'll be 2 rather dazed bodies lolling around in the hotel lobby!!
So far 3 suitcases packed and only have shoes, handbags and odds and sods to pack in the 4th case. My claim is to possess 3 suitcases and David will have one! Well, a girl needs her posh frocks and shoes after all! After a suitcase was 'lost' on our arrival in Copenhagen in August (found 2 hours later on the wrong carousel - and another suitcase totally lost on our return to Oz and turning up 5 days later) we've decided to mix up our treasured belongings. David is usually very possessive and does not like to share his valued suitcase space but this journey is a little different. This time if a case does go on an adventure on its own we will still have enough glad rags to go round to get us to New York where a shopping expedition is the order of the day - regardless of how many suitcases we may have!
